About Us

We are a mental health charity, formed in 1984, and continue to go from strength to strength, evolving and re-structuring as the need arises, reflecting both the needs of mental health service users and the community we serve.

Oasis Day Centre

Our projects are delivered by dedicated, professional staff and we also acknowledge the tireless support of our volunteers and students on placement who work alongside us.
Our Oasis Day Centre is run by our service user peer mentor support team who provide a safe, welcoming environment for those with mental health problems, as well as organised social events and activities.

We operate from two buildings adjoined by a garden.   The Oasis Centre is in 8 Woodside, Greenbank, Plymouth and the Mind Parkside building is to the rear of the property, accessible also at 6 Woodside Lane, Greenbanbk, Plymouth.  Immediately next to Mind Parkside is Freedom Fields Park, where we have a community cafe – The Cafe In The Park – which is run completely by volunteers.

Cafe In The Park

Freedom Fields Park is full of history and was recently landscaped and refurbished through the Heritage Fund.

Plymouth & District Mind operates its Advice And Information Centre from the Mind Parkside building, as is our UK Online Centre, which helps people acess the internet free of charge.  Anyone from the community can access services in this building.

In the Woodside Building:

  • Mind Befriending Scheme – trained volunteers visit people at home once a week
  • Self-Harm Support Group – facilitated by 2 coordinators for people who self-harm, meeting once per week
