Deliberate Self Harm (DSH): Positive Choices

DSHPC_LOGO.pngWhat was the project all about?

DSH: Positive Choices was a 2 year Erasmus+ funded project (2015-2017) that was coordinated by Plymouth and District Mind. The project  developed a comprehensive toolkit of resources and training materials that can be used with young people to enable them to become more emotionally resilient, confident, and self-aware. The project was specifically aimed at supporting those young people for whom their mental health has  become an issue. In particular, we looked at the issue of self-harm as a coping strategy.

Who was involved?

We worked with some fantastic partners from across Europe on this project. They are:

Each partner hosted a 3 day meeting during which they delivered 2 one-day workshops around related themes that can help young people to build emotional resilience. The workshop resources can be used to train anyone who works/volunteers with young people on how they can recognise and deal with symptoms of poor mental health.

Over the 2 year lifetime of the project, we:
Delivered 72 workshops in the field of youth to address self-harm and emotional resilience;
Translated materials for delivery in each of the partner countries;
• Created volunteer committees to monitor the evaluation and sustainability of the project locally;
• Evaluated the workshops and project.

Would you like to access the resources?

We produced a toolkit that can be used to upskill staff and volunteers who are working with young people. If you would like to access these materials, please email admin@plymouthmind.com
