Mental Health Training Courses

We have a wide portfolio of mental health training courses that cover a diverse range of emotional and mental health topics.

We are delighted to offer bespoke in-house training for Businesses and Schools. We also offer timetabled courses at our training venue in Plymouth. All our courses, including dates and costs, are included below.

Mental Health First Aid (2 day)

Learn how to identify, understand and recognise the crucial signs of mental ill-health and what you can do to help on a first aid basis.

This course will increase your confidence in feeling able to approach, assess and assist someone who might be experiencing a mental health issue and encourage them to the support they need to recover.

Understanding Self-harm 

This course covers topics such as definitions, history and psychology of self-harm while also focusing on why people self-harm, and how to help people who are using self-harm as a coping strategy.

The course is suitable for anyone wanting to better understand self-harm; health and social care professionals, staff in other statutory and voluntary organisations, as well as friends, family and carers. It can be useful to people who have themselves self-harmed, who want to understand this, but please note the content of this course may be triggering for those currently, or recently self-harming.

Understanding Eating Difficulties

This course covers topics such as definitions, history, science and psychology of eating difficulties, while also focusing on why people develop eating difficulties, and how to help people with eating difficulties and associated behaviours.

The course is suitable for anyone wanting to better understand eating difficulties; health and social care professionals, staff in other statutory and voluntary organisations, as well as friends, family and carers. It can be useful to people who themselves have/had eating difficulties, who want to understand this, but please note the content of this course may be triggering for those who have, or have recently had eating difficulties.

Managing Mental Health in the Workplace (1 day)

Learn how to better support employees experiencing mental health issues and how to develop good practice in promoting positive mental health and wellbeing.

This course is ideal for line managers, supervisors and others who have a responsibility for safeguarding staff wellbeing. The course focuses on learning how to address problems before they become severe, and how to best support staff when issues do emerge.

ASIST – Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety.
